Mocha Candy

I used to be afraid of chocolate.

Let me back up. Chocolate itself is not the problem. Chocolate is never the problem. Chocolate is glorious. Chocolate is one of the things that humans got right.

Melting chocolate is the problem. For ages, it was my biggest kitchen fear. Need me to chopย something up? No problem. Think I’m scared toย use the oven? Don’t make me laugh. You want me to melt some chocolate? Terror. Younger me would go to great lengths to avoid it.

It’s just so fussy! It burns so easily! It gets everywhere! I always make a mess!

Practice makes perfect, though, and conquering that particular fear meant that the wide world of customizable candy was open to me.

This mocha candy is quick– and yes, easy— to make, and you only need 3 ingredients to do it. Rich chocolate mixes perfectly with the coffee to make a delicious treat for Valentine’s Day– or any day. Chocolate isn’t confined to just holidays. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mocha Candy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 2+ tablespoons instant coffee granules (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil, stirring until completely smooth.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the instant coffee granules.
  3. Pour the chocolate into candy molds and chill until set.

This recipe is vegan with the appropriate chocolate chips.

I totally agree Courtney, melting chocolate can be quite tricky and you need to practice a few times before you know how not to burn it!! These chocolate mocha candies are super delicious! The coffee makes then so grown-up!!

These are completely adorable. I love the mold you used for them. I have certainly had chocolate melting issues in the past. It really can be finnicky. Sometimes it comes out perfect and other times not so much. Looks like you conquered your fear and became skilled in the art of chocolate melting =)

I know what you mean about melting chocolate! For me, it either goes really well, or is a total disaster! There is no in between. These candies sound so yummy – chocolate + coffee is my favorite combo! Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday this week!
